SNNU donates millions to Jinggu county in poverty alleviation effort



On July 7, Shaanxi Normal University made several donations to Yunnan provinces Jinggu county in its aid and poverty alleviation effort, as SNNU delegation headed by president You Xuqun visited the county.

The donation ceremony was attended by CPC SNNU Committee vice secretary Lu Shengli, vice president Ren Xiaowei, and officials from SNNU General Administrative Office, Poverty Alleviation Office, Educational Foundation secretariat, General Publishing Company, and Affiliated Middle School, and CPC Jinggu County Committee secretary Luo Jinghua and Jinggu officials Wei Jian, Yao Fucheng, Li Mei and Gao Jianyun.

In the meeting before the ceremony, Luo Jinghua lauded SNNU’s support and help to Jinggu county, saying the university’s poverty alleviation projects, especially the educational projects, have made significant changes.

You Xuqun said in this decisive year for battle against poverty, SNNU was confident in winning the battle and would spare no efforts in carrying out Jinggu-targeted poverty alleviation projects, despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

You Xuqun also talked with and commended Wang Zhongren, vice director of General Affairs Department of SNNU Affiliated Middle School, who was assuming the post of interim director of Jinggu Education and Sports Bureau as a Yunnan-aiding official assigned by the Ministry of Education.

Lu Shengli, Ren Xiaowei and other SNNU officials exchanged ideas with Jinggu officials regarding educational and consumption poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

SNNU donated CNY two million yuan in special aid fund, 500,000 yuan for Jinggu Township Middle Schools infrastructure construction, 500,000 yuan for SNNU Red Candle Learning Fund, and 385,000 yuan worth of Chinese Classics book series and 407,700 yuan worth of books for primary and middle school students.

SNNU Educational Foundation secretariat and Jinggu county signed the agreements for donations for Jinggu Township Middle School’s infrastructure construction and SNNU Red Candle Learning Fund.

On July 8, SNNU delegation visited the Kunming Botany Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, meeting with KBI director Sun Hang and SNNU students in SNNU-KBI joint program.

SNNU officials also met and talked with SNNU alumni in Yunnan.
