SNNU to build Silk Road Alliances with LU and NNU



On June 7, a delegation headed by CPC SNNU Committee secretary Gan Hui visited Lanzhou University and Northwest Normal University and signed cooperative framework agreements on co-building Silk Road Alliances with the two institutions.

opus体育平台In the morning, Gan Hui, who is also the director of SNNU’s Implementation Work Group in One Belt and One Road National Educational Action Program briefed in a discussion session about SNNU’s educational characteristics, disciplinary advantages, and works done in faculty construction, First-class university and discipline construction, deepening comprehensive reform, and research and think-tank construction under the OBOR initiative, and explained the university’s basic thinking and work plan for Silk Road Alliances. He said SNNU proposed the construction of cooperative and exchange platforms with higher institutions, academic institutions and publishing houses under the principle of “Mutual consultation, construction and benefit”, so as to exhibit their characteristics and advantages, increase sharing of resources, deepen practical cooperation and realize win-win and mutual development. Lanzhou University CPC Committee secretary Yuan Zhanting said LU was willing to bring into full play its advantages and build Silk Road Alliances together with SNNU, in support of China’s OBOR Initiative. Feng Xudong, vice director of SNNU Work Group, presented the background, significance, work plan and completed work of the Silk Road Alliances proposed by SNNU. LU vice president Pan Baoguo gave an account of LU’s history, educational philosophy and recent development. Then Pan and Feng signed the framework agreements to co-build the Silk Road Humanities and Social Sciences Alliance and the Silk Road Library, Archives and Publishing Alliance.

In the afternoon, SNNU delegation visited Northwest Normal University. Gan Hui and NNU CPC Committee secretary Chen Kegong briefed about their institutions’ history, characteristics, faculty development, social service, and international drive respectively. Gan said the two institutions were both normal universities located in China’s west and hoped they could make good use of the platform of Silk Road Alliances to bring into full play of their advantages and make contributions in promoting higher education cooperation and people-to-people connectivity among countries along the Silk Road. Chen said NNU would support and participate in the Silk Road Alliances proposed by SNNU. Then Feng Xudong and NNU vice president Zhang Shengyong signed the framework agreements on co-building Silk Road Teacher Education Alliance and Silk Road Humanities and Social Sciences Alliance.

opus体育平台After the meeting, SNNU delegation visited NNU History Museum, accompanied by NNU president Liu Zhongkui and VP Zhang Shengyong.

opus体育平台Officials of relevant SNNU departments including Administrative Office, Teaching Affairs Department, International Programs Office, School of Teacher and Administrator Education, and General Publishing House, attended the discussions and signing ceremonies. Some of them also visited the Cuiying School of Lanzhou University.

opus体育平台SNNU set up the Implementation Work Group in One Belt and One Road National Educational Action Program in May, in response to China’s OBPR Initiative, Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial Government’s decisions in implementing the program, and will be signing more agreements with higher institutions, research institutions and publishing houses in countries along the Silk Road.
